A much too long awaited trip

As I sit in the airport, thrilled that I have finally had the chance to see my son after almost 5 years apart, I can only fight back tears and even smile.
A dear friend gave me the trip and although it came during my layoff, it was so worth the worry I have financially.  This beautiful, sweet, loving young man of 6'5" is still my baby boy. ;-). And to see how people he works with, his friends and girlfriend feel about him and how they think he's just as special as I do meant the world to me.  He'll be 26 next week, so just getting to hold him and admire the man he is made everything so worth any concerns I had.
I also had a nice visit with a friend who lives here and the time spent made me smile also. Being able to be myself, mom and friend feels great. My friend also made me feel as good about myself as my son did.
Although it wasn't a "Las Vegas" fun it most certainly gave me more to think about, smiles to keep my chin up about and a small renewal of admiration.
Advice: travel when and where you can, make the most of every given moment and cherish the small things that can also bring some big joy!!
